Two Hams on the Road

Traveling in The Little House. Molly's adventures

  1. Shortest Trip Yet!

This might not even count as a trip with our Reflection. We just finished a kitchen/den remodel that included 3 coats of polyurethane on the hardwood floors. Due to the geometry of the crown in the road and the slope in the driveway we cannot put our Reflection beside the house. So.... on March 29 the low was predicted in the upper 20s and we had not winterized after our return from Florida, and poly was due to go on the floor the next day. We took the camper to the Virginia Beach Holiday Travel ...

  2. Escaping the Cold

We escaped the mid Atlantic to spend about 6 weeks in Florida for warmer weather. After a few days visiting family on the East coast, we moved to Sarasota, where we spent a month. Molly got to swim at Brohard Paw Park off leash dog beach in Venice about twice a week. We enjoyed the weather, read some, played some ham radio. Marcy and Gary stopped by for a nice visit one day. The time went by quickly, and we dragged our feet coming home since it was still cold. We were able to get home without having ...

  3. First Year

The first year with our Reflection certainly seemed to go by very quickly. It was a year ago this weekend that we went our for our maiden voyage. A year ago it was 80 degrees, not 45 with high winds, thank goodness! Sadly our Reflection is now winterized and at the storage unit.

We traveled to Florida, spent a weekend near Richmond VA, traveled to Ohio for the national ham radio convention in May, made a short trip in Virginia in June/July, traveled through Michigan on our way to ...

  4. Fall Colors and Family

Our last trip for 2014 was to see some (late) fall colors and visit family near Lynchburg VA. We stayed at the Lynchburg KOA, which is about a mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway just north of the James River. It was a bit late for the fall colors, but we did ride a short section of the parkway on the way to visit family. We did also have a nice ride into Nelson County and got some apples. On the way home, we spent a couple of nights at Pocahontas State Park just outside of Richmond. Molly enjoyed ...

  5. Great Food, Great Folks, and Great Swimming

We escaped the summer heat in Virginia Beach with a trip around Michigan on the way to the rally. After a couple of nights in Virginia and Ohio, we stopped to visit The Henry Ford museum in Dearborn. It was fantastic, and we found good local sweet corn. Heading north from there we found a really nice township park at the southern end of Saginaw Bay (Finn Road Township Park), and found more local sweet corn, muskmelon and good sausage from Frankenmuth. We spent a few days near Mackinaw City. Molly ...
