  2. I have read ". . .all she wrote" but never seen "The End of the Road"...

...until today. (We are camped at the Smokey Bear RV park outside of Gatlinburg.)

Wifey and I decided to try and get lost in the Smokey Mountains this morning. You know, just take off, start driving and try and find your way back. We've done it many times and many times we had a great time. Stopping here and there for lunch and whatnot. Always was fun and a way to see new country -- not a good idea in the Smokey Mountains. We were on hwy 321 coming out of Gatlinburg and instead ...

  3. Narrow Roads and Vegetables

Some of the narrowest roads I have ever seen are here in the Smokies. They will put your driving skills to the test. We had to cross a bridge yesterday that gave clearance of about a foot on either side of the mirrors. We did not have our 337 on the back but geeesh! We were close to the side of the bridge and on- coming traffic. The bridge on I-40 near Pigeon Forge was really close. It is under construction and I bet there was not 6 inches clearance on either side of the mirrors.

We pulled into the Smokey Bear campground about 7pm. Truly, a incredible drive with incredible scenery. I-40 has some roadwork going on -- both East and West borders -- took an hour to get through.

Campground is small and quaint without being crowded. Gatlinburg is 10 miles away through beautiful winding roads. Word to ...

  5. The long way around....

We started a 2 month journey yesterday in wild hopes and great anticipation - the great Smokey Mountains await!

The heat in Texas is just beginning to build and we couldn't wait to escape the humidity that comes along with it.

The 480 mile leg finished yesterday after a ten hour drive. I-40 (East and West) on the west side of Memphis has road construction and we had a hour delay because of it. Today, we head on in to Gatlinburg for a week.

    The 337 ...
