  1. Hurricane Matthew and the Blue Ridge Parkway

We watched and watched the weather forecast and decided that Hurricane Matthew was supposed to head east near Charleston, so it would be fine to join our dealer's annual Owner's Rally about 30 miles west of Williamsburg, VA. We had fine weather when we left Virginia Beach Friday midday. We spent Saturday mostly inside with about 6" of rain and 20 to 30 mph winds. Despite this, we had a good time and stayed dry (as long as we stayed inside). It was interesting to hear about our dealer no longer ...

  2. Family, Genealogy, Another Swim State, and Friends

It was great to escape the heat and humidity in Virginia Beach. We visited family and enjoyed the annual family campout in the Central New York/Finger Lakes area. This ramp was attached to an existing deck approximately 47 inches off the ground. The would normally require a ramp 47 feet long to meet code. However, this ramp, because of the slope of the land ended up being 59' long. ...

  5. Random Thoughts

I'm sitting here in my cubical and just processing several random thoughts. One of these involves taking care of aging parents. Linda and my availability to camp is reduced greatly by the need to provide ongoing care for her 85 and 83 year old parents. Most of our weekends are spent taking care of their 7 acres and doing routine household upkeep that they cannot do. Of course that also ensures that I keep working to help provide for their extended care where their limited retirement income does ...
