I have a deck-mount IOTA-55 (w/ charge controller) I've had in 3 trailers now. Currently it's located inside the hookup center in our Imagine and charges dual 6V batteries. It's wired with 6ga welding cable since it's a short run to the batteries. Yes, we dry camp and charge off a generator. The factory WFCO is still in place but turned off at the breaker.

yea I found out it is, but what a pain to get to it if you have to. I'd have to try and reach another two feet to get the back side beyond where the converter is.

I now have a duplex outlet installed near the converter, tested everything, all fine. Now I just need to figure out how to clean up the mess as best I can.

Would like to replace my WFCO WF-9855 55 amp with a smart converter but lithium are on my short list of items to purchase, does anyone know if the Progressive converters will charge both lithium and lead cell batteries? Hate to buy a new converter and it not support future battery upgrades.

Most any converter will work with lithium batteries, but there is a big catch. They will not charge them nearly as fast as a lithium dedicated converter. I just replaced my converter with the Progressive lithium version. One thing you can't do is use a lithium converter on lead/acid or AGM batteries. They will be damaged.

    Jim,

Thanks for the quick reply, that answers my question. I will purchase the PD lithium converter and just wait to install it once I purchase the lithium batteries. You would think someone would make a "smart converter" that you could program and choose which type of batteries you are using lead/acid, AGM or lithium batteries and it would charge at that rate.

    Replacing WFCO Converter?

Or you can go nutball crazy and buy the best and most expensive battery charger/inverter/converter on the market, like I did, and charge at 125 amps!

Resistance is Not Futile, It's Voltage Divided by Current.

Reached out to Progressive here is the response from them; waiting on clarification of what the TCMS Plug is.

If you get a PD9100 converter + the PD9105V charge wizard. You can later change out the wizard to a TCMS plug to give 14.4 to the Lithium battery.

I wonder if the TCMS he mentioned is intended for the Lead Acid PD9100 Converters https://www.progressivedyn.com/rv/po...er-converters/
SPD91110 TCMS MODULE; 14.6VOLTS. For PD9100 Series models only with TCMS port above fuses.
This will set the voltage to single stage 14.6 VDC.

Versus the Lithium PD1900AL ones that are already set for Output Voltage: 14.6 VDC https://www.progressivedyn.com/speci...power-centers/
