I appreciate the feedback...you all are going to help me made a big purchase mistake.

I’m looking at a 2021 23RBH today. That should be no problem I’m thinking, right?
    23BHE?

    Definitely lighter

I got a chance to sit down and do the math...the 2800bh was much too large for me...thank you all for snapping some sense into me. I made the decision that the 23BHE is much better. With my Tahoe capacity, GCVW, and Payload combined with tongue weight and anticipated load in the trailer, this trailer made much more sense. I went and saw one today that is practically brand new (used, but purchased in July 2020) and made a deal on it.

I'm happy to upgrade. I've moved from a 2004 Starcraft Pop up I had for 10 years, to a 2008 Starcraft Starstream 22RBH I had for 4 years, to this now. Thank you all for your opinions. It helped me make a better decision.

When I replaced my 2007 Expedition we did look at a Superduty but we utilize the 3 rows of seats all the time when we are not towing. So the Truck was not an option. The 2800BH is right at the edge of what the Expedition is capable of. We are over packers as well so we could do better with weights but have not put the trailer on a diet yet. Our payload is 1674 and I have not exceeded that at the scale, but have gone over once on the Rear Axle rating which is 4380. I have the 1,000lbs Equalize hitch with 7 washers. With the 3.5 Ecoboost engine pulling the trailer is easy compared to the V8 in the old Expedition. Milage towing is about the same with both SUVs 6 to 9 depending on wind direction, speed, elevation. Having the integrated brake controller makes braking so much smoother than the prodigy I had in the old Expedition. The longer wheel base of the Max I am sure help with the experiance.
Hi there! We are considering the exact same combo - heavy duty tow package on a 2020 Expedition for the Imagine 2800BH. We’re new to towing and I’m confused about the numbers. The trailer looks too big for the SUV - I’m worried we’d be blown about or lack control on the road. I don’t really want a pickup. It’s just my husband and me and 3 small dogs but we are planning at least a 3 month cross country trip. I appreciate your first hand experience and anything else you’d be able to tell me.
    Gratefully,
    Pippa

You have an 8000 lb trailer x.12 equals the tongue weight = 960 lbs...plus the weight of the car occupants 350 lbs plus 50 lbs of dogs =400 lbs.
That leaves you with 340 lbs before you max out the payload capacity limit. You will be maxed out or over I believe.

    Payload capacity is 1700 lbs

SUV has a great ride, soft suspension, different gear ratio than truck, not really made for towing a vehicle well over the SUV weight. I know you don’t want to buy a truck but a 2500 is the safe way to travel, especially what you goals are cross country. You wear your vehicle out. Get a smaller lighter trailer or get a truck. I’m assuming the SUV because of the dogs.
