Fresh water hose contamination via black flush?

I agree with your concern about contamination from using your fresh hose at the dump station. I use ours all the time for black flush when dumping at our own site, because the black flush system is protected against back-flowing of bacteria-laden water and because I've carefully disinfected water connections at the site before using them. However flopping that fresh water hose around at a busy dump station and carelessly connecting it to the water supply there is not smart, and you are smart to consider alternatives. Like others here I have a separate hose for that.

@NB Canada's assertion above that "The little contamination that could take place would never harm anyone" is patently false. While the risk of someone getting really sick via incautiously handling their own sewage is low, there is a chance of getting ill enough to detract from a camping experience. The risk of illness is much higher via incautious exposure to other peoples' sewage, and the risk of serious illness is there. "Risk" doesn't equal "you will get sick", but there is a solid scientific chance that you might and saying otherwise is just foolish and/or ignorant bravado. I tried the coiled hose from the outboard faucet to the black tank rinse hookup, but the hose is so small in diameter that I didn’t get much flow through it. I could imagine that, if I could have seen the inside of the tank, something in there would have been saying, “Are you kidding me?”, as the water flow probably wasn’t even strong enough to reach the far side of the tank, much less really do any cleaning. From that point on, I’ve kept with water from a regular bib, with pressure enough to do some good.

My Zero G fresh water hose is only for one thing...Fresh water. It might only be in my mind, but we carry a second hose for all other uses.

I have gone a different route, On my 2021 3540GK-R I added 2 filters after the hose inlet bibb, prior to the hose inlet bib is the mounted pressure regulator, prior to that is a T, one side goes to an on off valve, then backflow preventer and then the black tank flush hose inlet bibb. The other side goes to a quick disconnect. When I can dump onsite, I have the freshwater hose connected, when I have to use a dump station I have a short hose that I can clean easily to connect.

I keep it simple and just use a separate hose for black flush. I hook it up when we set up and it is ready for use when I need to dump.

I had an old hose that I cut to 15 or 20 feet and installed the proper fitting on the cut end. That’s all I use for my black tank flush. Even though the contamination risk is very remote, I feel a whole lot more comfortable and safe using a dedicated hose for the flush.

You can always add an additional, external check valve onto the black flush port and connect that way with an additional measure of protection. Stuff may flow down hill, but that's in a gravity situation. Your black tank many not always be in such state, and the quality of RV plumbing parts is sub-par.

I have to be honest in that I have gone the route of convenience on our Solitude. I treat it as that we have a "water supply hose" and my black tank flush in plumbed in with additional isolation measures beyond those in the flusher connection. I did this because I only flush tanks when we have a full hookup site when camping. Otherwise, I simply dump and go because we have full hookups at our house where we park it, and it's no big deal for me to flush it when we're back because we also keep the camper stocked and ready to go all season. Just do it while we're exchanging laundry and restocking the dry goods.

I found that Rural King had some "shortie" hoses that were anywhere from about 8 feet up to 15 feet or so. They were also either a bright blue or a vivid green, so it's easy to keep them separate from the white fresh water ones. Right after we got our TT I bought two plastic wreath boxes from Lowe's and keep my fresh water hose and pressure regulator in one box and the other hoses in the second box.

As they say, $hit rolls down hill and the flush is uphill of everything. I never used it at the dump station on my old trailer because it was opposite the side from which you dump. Now that it is same side, I may actually use it at the dump. But then I realize the hose is now down hill of any fecal matter that may be left on the hose bib and spout at the dump. Anyone mod the quick connect hose in the utility cabinet to be able to pull from the fresh tank, while at the dump and flush using your leftover fresh tank and TT pump?
I have a white hose for fresh water. A red hose for the black tank flush. You are not supposed to use the same hose for both.
