Plugging 50amp Imagine in at home to run slides out and run refrigerator

I do mine all the time. 50 amp and adaptor it down to a 10/3 extension cord plugged into a regular wall out. I keep the surge suppressor in line to protect from Florida lightening strikes.

Your slides will work on just the trailer battery 12v.

If that was true what should the people who boondock do when there is no electric. The slides all work off of 12 volt.

Just saying shwintec systems can be easily damaged by low voltage, or get out of sync.

The main concern is running the refrigerator on the home current before leaving to camp.

We don't cool ours down ahead of time. We go to our storage yard (3 blocks away) and turn on the propane and battery. Then we load everything into the fridge including a tub of ice in the freezer.
While my wife is loading the fridge, I do the hookup to the truck.
Then we go.
The fridge cools so quickly the ice never melts or gets stuck together.
Dometic fridge.

2x on previous comment. Please post where you read that. Maybe it’s in a different context but at face value It is not correct. It is a 12v system built to run on the battery. True, “browning out” out most any electric device can be damaging unless they have the circuit protections. I’ve had schwintec in two previous trailers and only had to reset one slide once. As far as stepping down the connection for the house 110, never been a problem for us. As previous poster said, use an extension cord that can handle the amps and distance. 10/3 sounds bout good for just a fridge and couple 12v motors. Check the extension cord after a couple hours. If it’s getting hot, probably need heavier gauge and shorter run. Just remember to shutoff the thermostat for the AC. Did that once. Tripped the circuit quick fortunately. I’ve since dropped a 50A line in the garage. Big picture though, we’ve found the fridge cools down quicker on propane.

Unless you are doing this all the time, why not just use a trickle charger to keep the battery topped up?

Your fridge will run just fine on a 15A household circuit. I wouldn't attempt to run the AC unit though.

I did this for years, then switched to gas before unplugging just to be sure all was working OK.
I now have a 12V fridge compressor, so no more gas or high current heating element.
