Fuel, tools, and bodies all count against the payload. So your useable payload is ~4800 lbs.

Nevada gave me the option of choosing the weight rating for my F350 and taxed me accordingly. Of course I chose the higher rating so I'm legal with just about anything the truck is built for. Towed about 20k over a mountain pass last night for it's maiden voyage. Lovin' it.

Still kicking myself for getting a 3/4 ton. I could have had a Ram 3500 standard bed loaded to the gills and with the high output Cummins with the Aisin tranny for the exact same price I paid for this Chev on the employee discount plan. My payload is only 2,200 and change and I never even looked when I bought it. Just went by max towing capacity. Think I'll get off this forum so I can be blissfully ignorant again.
I'd go 3500 all day long and still may sell this truck I have and get a 1 ton when the new models come out. I know I'm overloaded.

Are you sure about that empty weight of 9200? Is that from a Cat scale? That sounds awful heavy for empty weight. You do know I hope that Ford basically gives you the empty weight of your exact truck on that sticker. The GVWR on our duallys is 14000 per Ford. Your max payload or your sticker as your truck is equipped is 5394 pounds. 14000 - 5394 = 8606 pounds, that's your empty weight with full tank and no driver. My truck proves this almost exactly ie 14000 - 5264 payload = 8736 empty weight. My Cat scale said 8840 with hitch and tonneau cover. Thats 104 pounds over Ford's weight which is close enough ( Cat scale accuracy?)

I'm not weight police, I could care less what and when or whatever you think you can carry or pull. I've looked up my own by google and found it easily, can you do the same? Simply just google your trucks specs and then what you want to pull. Either your over or your not. Either you can pull this or you cant. Just google your own specs for the vehicle you have.
