Tongue Jack Light has a Mind of its Own

A strange thing just began happening with the light on my LCI tongue jack. It comes on for no apparent reason. The light is not as bright though as when it is turned on. The switch is still in the "off" position. When I turn the switch on and then off again, it goes off.

I've checked all connections I can think off, the rear of the switch and the power lead to the jack itself. I reattached the main connection. I'm waiting for the light to turn itself on again. Anyone else have this issue? If it continues I will call LCI tomorrow. I never have used these lights and probably never will, so I may just disconnect the wires to the rear of the switch if all else fails.

Steve, Did you ever resolve this problem? I just bought a new RV and the tongue jack is doing the same thing.

I had this problem as well. It seems the jacks are not sealed against the weather very well, and moisture gets in them when it rains. Thankfully, mine was just the light switch and not the raise/lower switch. I solved this by getting a tongue jack cover, and now I have a place to hang the wire and the safety chains when not hooked up. I went with a Clever Cover if it matters, they seem to make one for every jack type.

I also have a jack cover, a plastic bucket. Works good and I know where to find one when I need to use it for something other than keeping the jack from getting wet.

Thks much. Makes sense. I picked the new rig up in Syracuse, NY on Saturday and it rained none stop all weekend. Hopefully I'll get it dried out and back to normal.

Sorry for delay, I’ve been busy lately and haven’t been on forum much. I guess it kinda resolved itself. I removed the plastic housing to take a look inside, and reconnected the connections. Put back together and it’s been working since. Good luck.

    Hi Howard,

For some reason I didn’t get a notification this time. Don’t know why.

Thks for the response Steve. I may have to do the same plus get a cover.
