Ordering 397TH, have questions...
Hello All,
Great place, glad I found you all.
Getting ready to order a 2017 397TH but have some questions.
Did anyone order the Slide-Out Toppers from the factory and what did you think of them.
Did anyone try and get a larger generator?
How about the heat pump option in the family room? Worth the $195? My guess is yes and $195 is not much in the scheme of things.
Are there any option that are not listed on the website or on seedealercost.com site that I might be missing?
Thanks
Bob

Welcome to our group! I personally don't like slide toppers. Heat pump is nice if temperatures are 35 or above. I don't know about the generator but I'm sure someone will have an answer

Thanks, glad to be here. Great community.
What's your reason for not liking slide toppers?

Don't have a 397, but willing to comment:
- We also passed on toppers based on noise and seeing them collect rain on other folks' rigs we've discussed them several times in our 3 years of ownership and always decide against.
- our 5.5kw genny has been more than enough
- we'd have a heat pump if one had been offered. We do not go to cold weather areas, but often need a little extra heat in spring and fall.

We also passed on toppers, the generator they offer has been more than enough for when we need it. An electircal load monitor system is included when running off the generator to strip loads when needes for starting the A/C from what i understand of it. We use our heat pump, fireplace and electric heaters almost daily and only use gas heat when at or below freezing. We think the heat pump is worth it, we also went with dual pane windows, depends where you live. If you dont need the aux freshwater tank, pass, ive read plenty of fill issues people have. Without it, you still have 117 gallons of FW storage (if i recall the number correctly). Id also upgrade the tires to the G614s or plan for an aftermarket upgrade on your own. The Westlakes might not fail, its up to you. Either way, do your research and make your own well informed decision. Welcome to the group!

Thanks both arhayes & FT4NOW. Great information. I was planning on the Goodyears. Will order the HP & dual panes. Still on the fence on the toppers. I'll look into the fill issue you spoke of.

I just received a quote from the local dealer in SLC, UT. They are showing $2400 for FRT and $1200 for Prep. Seems a bit high on both. I understand that FRT is based on distance from factory but still seems pretty high at least to me.
Also they are only 20% off MSRP so I am reaching out to other dealer in other states.

Sounds super high, mine was shipped to FL and i dont remember it coming close to that. $1200 for prep...eh.
To compare apples to apples, spec out the 397 per the available options you want. Contact as many dealers you can in a radius you are willing to travel to pick it up. Who ever gives you the best out the door price wins. Some dealers will match others, so communicate as needed. Also, consider things like the dealer letting you sleep in the unit there for a night or two to check for initial problems. You need to pick best overall deal which isnt always the best price.
