Why not install the Microair Easystart kit and use the generator of your choice?

I may do that if I can't find a little gennie to do the job - less fuel and lighter weight are hard to pass up IF the unit will run a 15K AC.

I experimented with a Champion 2000 watt inverter gen and even with the Microair it wouldn't start a 15K AC. I'm hoping that one of the new generators in the 2200 to 2500 watt range will do the job. Microair tested it and the Champion just didn't have quite the guts that the Honda had. The Honda would sustain the startup current draw just long enough to start the compressor and the Champion wouldn't.

If you're not going to be using the generator for a month or more it's recommended to drain the carb, so it doesn't varnish.
That's a lot easier to do when you can turn off the fuel and run the carb dry.

Can't do that with the Honda...
    Wrong.

I have the Honda EU2200i Which came out a year and a half ago and has this feature.

We have two champion 3500 watt inverter generators in the back of our pick up. The nice thing I like about these is they fit under the toneau cover. And one of them is a gas powered remote start and the other is a dual fuel gas power or propane. The remote is great for starting it inside in the morning to run either the heater or the AC or for turning it off at night when we're going to bed. We also have to tie together kit which will allow us to run all of the appliances in our trailer at one time if we want to.

Not a recommendation, just an FYI - as I was strolling through an Atlanta-area Costco last night while waiting on a tire rotation and balance for my TV, I saw the Yamaha i2000 generator (1600 watts running) for $449. Including parallel cables. Seemed like a pretty good deal. My FIL has one of the units and loves his. That’s my only experience with them. YMMV.

First of all, you need to understand what number of appliances you want to power and what fuel you want to use and then look for your perfect option. I read plenty of reviews before buying my genny, pros, and cons, which one is more convenient and user friendly and on many forums, people were talking about Honda EU2200, so I decided upon it. Now, I use it every time I go camping and quite pleased with its performance. But, it seems a bit louder than I expected, but anyway quieter than other competitors. My camper friend has a Westinghouse WH2200iXLT generator. Also pretty quiet, what is a real benefit when you use it at night. Pay attention to this genny as well.
