6 1/2 Ft bed truck bed and Pullrite Super Glide 2700

I have a 2014 Ford King Ranch F250 Diesel with 6 1/2 Ft bed and am concerned about turning and having the truck cab hit the front cap of the fifth wheel. I will be purchasing the 2017 310GK Solitude. I've been told to buy the Pullrite Super Glide 2700 hitch as apparently it works well with a short bed truck. I'm also concerned on how to ensure fifth wheel is level and does not hit the truck bed sides, Any suggestions would be appreciated- 16K

I'd be more concerned about pin weight and payload of a 2014 F-250 King Ranch. If I remember correctly when I was looking at 2016 Platinum Short Beds F-250s they had actual payload door stickers in the 2000-2200 lbs range. That's why I went for a F350 SRW with a 3500 lb payload door sticker.

A 310GK has a listed average pin weight of 2350 lbs unloaded. Loaded I suspect it would significantly exceed the listed payload of your F-250.

I'll second Jerry's comments. 2/3 ton trucks have limited rear axle payload capacity and you'll likely be overweight with a loaded 310GK. We got there very quickly with just a Reflection fifth wheel. In addition, the SuperGlide is a very heavy hitch, adding even more weight over the rear axle. Despite what the dealer may tell you, I would encourage you to reconsider your combination.

    Hi Jerry
I checked the door labels from Ford and it says 6100 lbs for rear GAWR. Would that not handle a pin box weight of 2350lbs or am I missing something. Thanks again

HOWITTRO - Look for the label titled "Tire & Loading Information". Above the tire size and pressure info, will be a line that says "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed" . . . so many kilograms or pounds. That number is your payload.

Here is an example of the label you should look for. As Rob stated

I've attached 2 examples. One with 3500 lbs is from my 2017 F-350 4x4 Lariat Short Bed and the other with 2291 lbs i believe is from a 2016 F-250 Loaded 4x4 Platinum I was looking to buy.

This is the total legal weight you can load , trailer pin/tongue weight plus hitch weight plus passengers and baggage in the truck.

Generally a F-350 gives you about 1000 lbs more payload than a F250.

FYI, a 310GK with a 15,000 lb gross weight when loaded with your stuff can easily have a pin weight of 3,000 lbs.

Yes... you have to subtract the actual weight that's already on the rear axle (usually obtained at the nearest CAT or co-op scales) when the truck is full of fuel, occupants, junk and hitch from the 6,100 lb. GAWRR (rear axle rating). My '13 Sierra 2500HD Duramax CC had 3,080 lbs. on the rear axle with just fuel, me and the hitch, leaving about 3,000 for pin weight.

I have a 310 gK and purchased a new truck. When looking at the pin weight of the trailer and the capacity of a 3/4 ton truck, I elected to purchase a 1 ton. Specifically a GMC Sierra 3500 Denali. I also use the Andersen Ultimate hitch which weighs less than 50 pounds instead of a 275 pound Pullrite automatic slider. If you decide to go with the Andersen, you will be very happy. But definitely go with a 1 ton truck!
