New 2017 F350 DRW truck
Had a small bit of insanity yesterday and bought a brand new 2017 F350 DRW Platinum Ford truck. Traded my 2015 F150 Platinum for it. They must have seen us coming at the dealer. My spouse and I test drove it and fell in love with it, simple as that. My spouse calls her "Big Bertha". Since I am only pulling a 297RSTS right now, do I still need to mess with all the weight distribution bars and stuff on the hitch. I definitely needed it on the F150, but this truck is heavy and solid on the road. I have the hitch apart now to readjust the height, but I'm wondering if I need it at all. What say yee?
PS. Yes, I know I'm crazy, but, hell, let my kids pay off the truck loan after I'm dead and gone. Yeah, there's probably a Solitude Fifth Wheel in my future, too! BaHahahaha!!!The Capt and the Admiral

Your owner's manual will tell you the amounts you can tow with and without a weight distributing hitch. Personally, I'd still use one if it was also a combination weight distributing/sway control hitch. Congrats on the new truck!

Congratulations! The Ford Super Duty trucks are great and we enjoy ours. My preference would be to keep the sway control setup but Jim has a point that the towing tables will list tow weights with and without a WDH. If you can tow safely within the stated limit then go for it. Good luck!

You don't legally need a WDH hitch but it helps with sway control.
We were towing an Imagine 2800BH with a 2016 F-150 and we needed a big time sway control ProPride Hitch to make it a relatively comfortable towing experience.
We bought a F-350 SRW and towed it once with the F-350 And WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!
The F-350 hitch label is attached, rated at tongue weight and 21.000 lb trailer and 2,100 tongue weight with or without weight distribution. The F150 was only rated at 500 lb tongue weight without WDH and 1,220 lb with WDH.Jerry & Linda
