    Emergency trailer brake

Activation of emergency trailer brake . I've heard two different things. Does the battery switch need to be on , for it to work?

If you have the factory installed battery switch, the emergency brake power will not go through this so it does not have to be on. If you have installed a complete battery disconnect switch, this will have to be turned on whenever towing to power the emergency brake apply. It is easy and worthwhile to check the function of the emergency brake apply. With the power cord to the trailer disconnected pull the emergency brake apply pin. Then try to pull the trailer forward . . . the trailer brakes should be locked.

They're usually wired to the 12V system before the disconnect switch.
