In the last two weeks when unhitching the capture plate has somehow loosens and just falls into the bed of the truck when unhitching. I hope that makes sense. Has anyone had this happen? I tighten the hex bolt and locking bolt up tight. It not a bit deal till I get home in a week or so. The first time was unnerving when it fell and hit the truck bed. Any help or info is appreciated.

This sounds like the plate I have for my 307 also. The hex bolt is on the backside of the plate and the locking nut is tightened from below the plate. No plastic spacer.

I’m changing my capture plate away from the universal one that you mentioned where it bolts underneath to the pin. Ours too came loose while towing in the middle of Nevada this weekend and well it was almost a really bad thing.Click image for larger version.
