    Share your towing MPG

I'm on a quest to see what end of the "normal" scale I'm on with my towing fuel economy. Share what you're getting with any details to factor in...

    2013 Ram 1500 pulling an Imagine 2650RK: 7.9 MPG

    Details:

    2013 Ram 1500 Express Crew Cab 4x4 5.7L Hemi
    3.55 gears
Blue Ox Weight Distributing Hitch w/ Sway Control
    Mid-grade fuel
Just me, girlfriend and 60 lbs. dog inside

2017 Imagine 2650RK (~6500 lbs total, <700lbs on the tongue)
    full propane, empty tanks
4 days worth of food, water and clothes
    ~75lbs of miscellaneous cargo

I set the cruise control for the speed limit, but never exceed 70 MPH even if the limit is 75, 80, etc.

We are on a three month journey. Since this is our first trip we through in a lot of extra stuff. Not sure of the weights however, we got quite a bit.

My 2014 Ram six cylinder diesel gets about 20 to 21 mpg empty and we have averaged 13.3 so far coming from Washington, down I5 to LA Basin and on to Phoenix. I am kind of surprised its that good.

2012 F150 extended cab, 3.5 EcoBoost, 3.55 gears. Reese Dual Cam hitch. And 36 gallon fuel tank :-)
2650RK Imagine, only took one trip then put it in storage last year. 2 people, but loaded pretty heavy.
62-63MPH on the Interstate got me 10.5MPG. That's a tad better than my last trailer but the Imagine is a bit more aero.

I see 8 to 12 mpg depending on grade, wind and speed. I shoot for 62 mph but many traffic conditions require 65 mph. 3:73 gears and close to 19,500 lbs.

One 1600 mile trip. We averaged about 10.5. Weight was likely 9,500 lbs total in trailer, with another 1,000 in bed of truck (quad). Going south averaged 11.2, but coming north only 10'ish. Stats below for vehicles. I stay around 62 mph.

For it to be meaningful, I hope everyone is posting hand calculated fuel mileage and not the TV computer generated average fuel mileage as they're not realiable.

So moral of the story: I've got to either slow down, or upgrade to a motor that isn't tuned to run like a bat out of hell! Seems I've got the lightest trailer in the thread and the worst gas mileage...

We average about 9.5 mpg. F250 gas, 4.3 rear end. Total weight truck & 5th wheel 16,000. That includes up hills and down between LA and Phoenix.

Do you all follow the speed limit or max out at 55?
