Heater output ducts in Solitude 369RL

In the kitchen/living room, which are the output ducts from the heater? There are two registers on the kitchen island, and then 6 by the stairwell and the counter. I am getting no heat out of any of the ones in the kitchen/living room, but a plethora out of the bedroom, bathroom, and basement. Is there something that I need to switch, or something? The bedroom roasts, and the living room freezes. lol. Thank you!!!
BTW, we pulled into the campground in Roswell, and there was another Solitude parked a couple of spaces away. I'm going to go chat with them tomorrow.

The 2 in the island should be the outlets. The ones at the stairs and towards the front of the kitchen are intakes to help circulate the heat.

Re: Heater output ducts in Solitude 369RL

    Hi Chris & Janice!

I have some good news for you!!! 8) I encountered this problem when we received our Solitude 369RL on November 11 and the Technician, Mike, at Layzee Days RV resolved the problem (I still need to have some tweaks done to my heating system) in conjunction with Grand Design so there is a fix for this although I do not know who the GD contact is. I am sure Janice can find out who addressed this with Layzee days RV in Sebright Ontario, Canada so they can fix your trailer. Although the fix still needs to be refined as we still have some issues but all in all, it much better. I was about to advise the forum of the problem when I saw your issue pop up.

Our situations seems similar. We had almost no heat on the main level of the trailer (where the kitchen and living room are located) and some heat in the bathroom and bedroom and tons of heat in the baggage compartment (which I was using to keep things warm until it was fixed). It was so warm, you could have lived in there ;D.

There were a number of issues with the flexible heat pipe from the furnace to the heat registers and other heat ducting causing the problem. First, we had a broken heating hose so that heat was being lost to the main baggage compartment. Second, the heating hoses from the furnace to the registers were too long restricting the heat flow and some were somewhat crushed and causing further air flow restriction. Third, this was causing the furnace to go into “over limit” and shut down preventing the trailer from getting hot enough (it never reached the desired temp). :

The Technician fixed this (in conjunction with GD) by rerouting the flexible ducting, removing the kinks in the hose, and reducing the duct to minimal lengths by removing excess heat ducting not needed. There was also a significant modification done by converting one of the heat return registers to a “heat register” by removing one of the two heat duct runs to the upstairs ductwork (supplies heat to the bathroom & bedroom and the main baggage compartment) and rerouted it to one of the heat returns, thereby providing 3 heat registers for the main level and leaving 5 heat return registers under the cabinetry and stairwell. huntr70 is correct, the 6 registers under the cupboards and stairs are heat returns to help circulate the heat. Kind of make sense tome to have 3 heat registers in the large area

WARNING: If anyone else has a similar problem, don't fool around with the heat ducting and heating/return registers as there needs to be specific cubic feet of air flow in and out of the furnace per Suburban specifications otherwise it will overheat and shut down. This needs to be done by a qualified RV technician.

I hope this helps. Contact me if you need more information.

Where are the outputs in the bedroom? The one along the bedroom/bathroom wall appears to be a return.

When we took delivery the tech had not taken the foil covering on the two island vents, so no heat. We removed the foil and all was ok.
Yours may be simple as well. Let us know.
