Solar panels on a Solitude 310GK, 100 or 150 watts?

    Hi all,

I'm looking into adding some solar panels to our Solitude 310GK. I see a lot of posts about installing solar panels on the Reflections but haven't seen anything on installing on Solitude's. I'm wondering if I should go with (3) 100 watt panels or (2) 150 watt panels? It seems that using 2 panels would be easier for wiring and installation. I suppose it's more of an issue of roof space and preference. Anyway, any comments would be much appreciated.
We'll be using the solar energy for keeping the house batteries charged for lights, and we'll use the TV and microwave occasionally. I figure 300 watts should be enough for our use with a little to spare.

    Thank you!
    Mary

I would guess that with 3 panels you can arrange a layout that would have less of an impact with shade vs only 2 panels. Maybe sometime else can shed some light on it. Pun intended.

We are going with 3 160 watt panels on our 2017 Solitude. Up grading from the 2 12 volt factory house batteries to 4 6 volt batteries.

Have you decided on a Controller yet?

I'm going with 3 160 watt panels also but can not decide on the controller

    On our Solitude 310GK we installed 2 - 100 W - PV panels with 4 - 6 V - AGM batteries & a 2000 W inverter. We have been so happy with this system to date!

I'm doing (4) 160 watt panels, Blue Sky 30/24il controller, magnum 2800 watt inverter, and 4 AGM batteries. Gonna be doing a lot of boondocking.

    Hi:

Yes we originally had one panel, the 3 way roof splitter and a Zamp Solar ZS-30A controller. We are adding two more 160 watt panels next visit for servicing and eventually a 2,800 watt inverter to complete the system.

    ShooTingSTar,
Did you go with Grape Solar or Go Power or Renogy panels? I'm debating among these 3 panels and would love to know how you came to your decision.
I decided to go with 3 panels from the get go. Are you using an RV dealer or a solar installer to do the work?

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Mary:

We have had the dealer perform the initial install and the additional upgrade to 3 panels. They do good work but from the various quotes I've gotten on several projects are about twice as expensive to buy the materials and labor. But they do good work.

Our panels are listed as Zamp (brand) Not sure if that helps you any. It's just what they carry and install when a customer wants solar added to their RV.
