    Front cargo latch

Has anyone put gas struts on the front cargo door? I just broke off the T hook walking under the nose of my 303 and I know if I replace the broken hook I will probably hit it with my head again and have to replace it again.

Interesting....I did that on a previous camper for the utility door and it worked great. No reason it should not work kn the door for front compartment on our 303RLS .

Just a thought, but for the cost of the struts, you could replace 10 of the plastic holders. (or more)

Marvin - I like this idea! I have done this on several boat hatches over the years. The 303 front hatch is really light so the struts would only need to be very low force. Just have to get the geometry right . . . do you happen to have any pictures ?

Rob, have not done it to this camper ....yet. Birdsnest got me thinking about it. Can't remember where I ordered the struts but they had all kinds of mounting brackets available, cost was reasonable.

Hi Marvin . . . that's the only problem . . . there looks to be a hundred ways to do this!

Why not use some magnetic catches?

May be a good idea, but I have not found any that are strong enough to hold the weight of the door overhead. Last thing you want is that door falling on your head, trust me it hurts like #@$%

Thats true. I got to thinking about after I responded. Struts would def be the way to go.

Well I ordered replacement latches from Amazon roughly 8 bucks for two and I think I'll try to velcro the hook up tight to the underside so it does not hang down all the time.
