    Dutch Oven

Are there any other Dutch Oven cooks here? I love cooking outdoors, in the D O or over the fire. I have 3 D Os a 13" ,10" and a cute little 8".
The 13 stays home and only joins us if we are camping with a large group.

Here's a Brisket and biscuits....makes me hungry just lookin' at it.

I want the biscuit recipe...did you cook them over the fire? or in the oven. They look delicious ...my son (the deployed soldier) would call them "cat-head" biscuits cause the size!

I don't use a "recipe" just throw stuff together. Here's what I do. First smoke the brisket about 6 or 7 hours, it won't be tender yet. Slice on the diagonal against the grain. Layer onions, carrots and mushrooms on the bottom of a 14 or 13" DO or any other pot you want to use. Then the meat, sprinkle in 2 packs of onion soup powdered mix, garlic until you think it's enough (we all have different taste buds) another smaller layer of carrots, onion and mushroom. Dump in about a jar of your favorite BBQ sauce, If you can get Vernors gingerale thats the preferance here (if not coke will be fine) pour it on until the meat is barely covered. Put DO lid on , Temps about 350 and roast until the meat becomes tender. usually about another 3 hours. We smoke the meat at home and bring it along frozen thaw when ready to use.

Renee, this biscuit recipe is very difficult, follow the directions closely
First you need a tube of pillsbury golden flakey layered biscuits, Tear off the paper and whack until it pops open. place rolls in the pan and bake at the temps on the packaging.

Both were made in the Dutch Ovens using charcoal on top and underneath on the table it's sitting on.

SO, you organizing the rally?? ;D
I remember way back when we went to the very first rally for Aliners (we spent 13 years camping in one) . It was a blast.
