Did your grease seals leak after being fixed?

Just curious if replacing grease seals and properly packing them permanently fixed the leaking seal issue?

Has anyone had a recurrence after Field repair?

Based on my memory, the units that leaked again were all repaired by Lippert. But I could be wrong in that assessment.

I was under my trailer yesterday greasing the wet bolts in the spring shackles. I checked the inside of my wheels and they are clean. My seals were replaced by my dealer under warranty with about 500 miles on the trailer. Looks like, so far so good. Fingers crossed. Been several thousand miles since replacement.

    We replaced all the seals,
Bearings etc ourselves last summer. We did have 1 leak again and Lippert replaced that 1 at last year's really in IN.

It has about 2500 miles and still ok but we are watching it carefully

In our case Jim is correct. We took ours to the Lippert service center 2 summers ago to fix "grease on the wheels". Last spring after 2,000 miles we had a burn out and had to replace an axle. At last summers rally, Lippert replaced both axles, brakes, etc. when we got home 1,000 miles later, we pulled them all off, and we again had grease on two brake pads. We will see how this year goes. 🤞

We had all four of ours repaired by dealer when we purchased the trailer in December 16'. We have travelled 1,800 miles so far, and all appears good. No grease on wheels, and brakes are better than ever.

I would expect that very few if any bearings that are properly repacked, with seals properly lubed, will cause grease to be transferred to the brakes . . . but, please remember that "no grease on the wheels" does not mean "no grease on the brakes". Many of us found heavily greased brakes with no external evidence on the wheels. The only way to know for sure is to pull the hubs and look.

Can someone explain how to grease the wet bolts?

    Thanks.

dihtn1 - A "wet bolt" has a grease fitting (called a "zerk" fitting) on the head of the bolt and an internal passage in the bolt to bring the grease to a small hole in the bolt inside the bushing. (See attached picture). Attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting and pump it until you see a small amount of grease come out at the ends of the bushing, between the spring and the shackle plates.

If you can't get grease to go into a wet bolt, ask here again and we can explain the fix for that (slightly more complicated) problem.
