I'm in N Ca., and I leave our vents open about an inch or two (all 3) all year long. They all have the vent covers. I also leave two air dehumidifier devices inside filled with granules called Dri Z Air, which removes water from inside and collects in the bowls. There are various types to accomplish this, including some electric dehumidifiers.

Oh, great - another thing we've never thought of.

Note to self - must talk to hubby about dehumidifiers/opening air vents.

Just a caution on the dehumidifiers that collect the water in a bowl . . . don't use these where the temperature will go below freezing. The water in the bowl will freeze, crack the bowl and run out when it melts. Ask me how I know this . . .

Rob, thanks for the tip. I'll start putting the plastic bowl in another type bowl I guess...if I know a freeze is coming, I try to keep an electric heater inside the camper set around 55, so that helps also.

Good question, From our last trailer we picked up 2 things. 1. vent covers and left open. 2. moisture is a problem either way during the winter.

One of the challenges with the vents open is that high winds push leaves and other stuff past the covers and shred them in the vent screen. I end up with a bit of a clean up, not bad however. I try and close the vents during high winds, sometimes I forget.

To manage moisture with the Reflection we purchased a Frigidaire Dehumidifier. I close the vents and turn it on in November and off in February (Northern California weather) with it placed on the island and a drain into the sink. This winter the grey tank was over 1/3. It keeps the trailer noticeably dry and adds a bit of warmth.

edit note: added detail to dehumidifier

My thought was "OK, I'll just put the bowl in the kitchen sink.". That should work.

Yeah, that would work also, but with my model I utilize two at strategic (at least to me) locations to cover as much of the trailer as possible.
