Looking to Purchasing a Surge Protector, Any Recomendations on Brand, Etc
Any one have a recommendation for a surge protector? Has anyone permanently mounted one in their Imagine trailer? If you did how hard was it to install?
I don't think I want to go with one that is plugged in at the electrical box if I can help it, even though you can lock some brands so they don't walk off.
Thank you
Greg

I installed a Progressive Industries EMS-50C with remote in my Solitude. Hardest part was bending the #4 wire

We use the TRC portable unit on our Reflection fifth wheel. I like the flexibility of the portable model. I also kept the 30A model by the same company to use when we could not get a site with 50A electric. We have the one that has the LCD display which shows current voltage and amp draw. Unit will shut power off to the trailer if voltage is out of spec or there is a surge. Has a 128 second delay before start up to protect appliances. Good luck!

I went the same direction at LCBoyer. Plenty of room to mount the unit behind and beneath the breaker/fuse panel, and I was able to fish the monitor cable up to the cabinet that contains the tank monitors and slide switches pretty easily in our 337. Manhandling the individual wires for the 50A connection was the hardest part. Our friends have an Imagine TT with a 30A service, and he purchased the 30A model from Progressive. Much easier with #10 wire, and he mounted his behind/beneath his breaker panel as well...

Looking at the EMS HW-50C to install in a 28BH and will occasionally use a generator. Does anyone utilize a by-pass switch? Does anyone utilize a Generator Plug?

I installed the EMS-HW-50C also. Attached it to the floor behind the wall with all the cable runs in my 337. Mounted the meter in the water inlet/dump valve compartment. As LC stated, hardest part is working with the wire.
t&mstr8...what specifically are you referring to as by-pass switch and gen. plug?

The Progressive Industries are considered to be some of the best power regulation devices on the market. I also don't understand what you mean by generator plug. At initial glance, no need to worry about the generator. The assumption is that it will put out clean power unlike the grid.
