Axle Hangers & Bolts Rusty
Took our first trip out with our 2500 RL the last couple of days. Was able to spend alot of time checking things out and took some pictures under the camper in regards to rust on the axle holders and bolts. The unit was manufacutrered in December, 2016. This seems excessive to me. We did have to drop the trailer back at the dealer on the way home as a couple of other issues came up that needed to be addressed before we can use the trailer again. Was just wondering if this much rust is normal.

Unfortunately, it is pretty normal for a unit that was delivered in the Winter. They are typically driven on salty roads, and the Lippert Frames and hardware rust pretty easy. We had the same thing happen on our 2014 337RLS. However, there is a very easy and economical solution to stop the rust in it's tracks. Wipe the affected areas with a rag and brush any loose rust off with a wire brush. Then spray the rusty bolts, parts and frame with Rustoleum Rust Reformer spray. It neutralizes the rust and leaves a primed surface that you can paint if desired. I was skeptical when it was suggested to me, but it worked way beyond my expectations. On my new 2017 297RSTS, anytime I see a spot of rust forming, I hit it with the spray and everything still looks new.
Here's a link to the spray on Amazon:

Thanks for the replys. It is just a little frustrating that we will have to spend time fixing this issue instead of camping!!! The trailer is at the dealership right now for some issues that came up during our first outing so I may ask them if this is something they can take care of under warranty. If not, I guess we will "just do it".
