Water Heater - works on propane but doesn't on electric

I have a new Imagine 2650RK that we love so far but little things are mounting up and I wonder if anyone can contribute towards resolution.

Specifically, my water heater works fine when I choose "Gas" on the control panel but doesn't heat up at all when I choose "Electric." Am I missing something here? I wonder if my switch is defective...

BTW...breaker is not off and there are no blown fuses in any of the slots

Just to make sure we're off to a good start. The electrical side of the water heater receives it's power from 120VAC, and not the battery. So you need to make sure the circuit breaker (not a fuse) is not shut off or tripped. If you're plugged into shore power (120VAC) and still don't have power to the water heater, you can try to trace the power cord to make sure it's plugged in to a wall outlet. This may be kind of difficult depending on how the wiring is run in your 2650. Also, make sure no GFI outlets are tripped in your unit. I'm not sure how your unit is wired, but the water heater could be on a GFI circuit.

Also, open the outside panel of the water heater. There is an ON/OFF switch out there that needs to be ON.

Just looked, there is no on/off switch inside outside WH panel.

The water heater electric is plugged into a standard 120VAC 3 prong outlet. Often, GDRV or the dealer unplugs this to make sure that the element is not turned on accidentally during pre-delivery when there is no water in the tank. Track the black electrical cord coming from your water heater and make sure that it is plugged in. Often the outlet will just be screwed to the floor or bulkhead, without a box around it or a cover on it.

BTW, electric only will bring cold water up to set temperature in about an hour. If we have shore power, we only use gas for multiple showers.

In my 2016 303 and we ever use is the electric element of the hot water heater. Get the water almost scalding hot - wish there was a thermostat on it actually. I've only used the gas just long enough to make sure it works, but I'm not wasting propane when I'm plugged into shore power.

All I know is that it's plenty hot on electric only. Like I said, we've only ever used the gas just long enough to make sure it did work.

It could be the heating element is bad. Have you ever had the switch on with no water in the tank? Another thing you can try is to push in on the reset located on water heater (assuming Atwood has one).
