Long Delay Getting Refrigerator to Switch to LP

Just like our previous camper, our new camper uses either AC or LP to run the refrigerator. However unlike our previous camper it takes several cycles to get the refrigerator to ignite the LP gas once shore power is unplugged. Sometimes the delay is so long that the error light comes on and the attempt to ignite the LP stops and I am left with a refrigerator getting warm.

I always light the stove burners to ensure that gas is present from the tanks but on this camper the line from the stove to the refrigerator is another 10 feet because of the refrigerator being located in the slide out.

Is anyone else having this problem and/or any ideas what can be done to reduce the start time when switching to LP?

tent2tt - you may have a small leak in the propane line to the refrigerator that allows the propane in that line to leak out over an extended length of time. I would suggest "soaping" (a soap and water solution with a small brush) each connection, starting at the fridge and working back toward the tanks.

Long Delay Getting Refrigerator to Switch to LP

I had a similar problem with our 337. However, our problem was limited to the curb-side LP tank. The stove would work, but the refrigerator and furnace wouldn't light. All worked fine on the street side tank, but curb side didn't work, except for the stove. There are several threads here about the issue. Grand Design sent me two new regulators and the connecting hose and all has been good since replacing those parts.

If it is just the refrigerator, our's won't always light unless I turn the refrigerator off and back on. Then, it seems to light right away.

    Good luck!!
