337 Broke front landing gear switch.

Backing into a tight site, off camber to boot. Underside of nose got too close to bed of truck, landing gear up/down switch is smashed.

The original switch was a DPDT, with one pole for up and the other for down. I need to determine what role each wire plays. As. I hope you can tell in the pictures, I have (from L to R) a solid white, red- white, solid-white, and a black- white.

My guess is that solid white is 12V, while the striped wires are for Up and Down, but I'd appreciate confirmation or correction.

    Dave . . . Yup that's broke alright .

Either the red or the black will be +12V. Mu guess is the red, but use an voltmeter to check. If neither has +12V, you have blown the fuse in the red holder near the battery. The white that pairs with the +12V is Gnd. You can confirm this with an ohmmeter to the chassis. The other pair go to the motor. You might be able to see the wire colours going to the motor by checking its connections.

On mine the "retract" end of the switch faces forward with the black wire on the driver side and a solid white on the passenger side. The "extend" has a white wire on the driver side and a red-white wire on the passenger side of the switch.

    Thanks Rob and SC,

I think I may have blown the fuse when I pulled the remains of the body of the switch out of the undernose. There was a small but clear "pop". 😞

Immediate problem is I cant unhitch until I take the load off the pin. My thought is to use a bottle jack under each landing gear leg until the weight is off the hitch, then support with Jack stands till I get the landing gear working again. Fortunately, we're here for nearly a month, so it's not panic time (yet).

Dave--there is always the ever fun hand cranking (like the olden days) until the switched is fixed. Trust a drill can be used with a socket to speed this up.....maybe someone can confirm.

    Dan,

Isn't the nut for the drill inside the front compartment, which I can't open till I'm unhitched, which I can't do until I get the weight off the kingpin?

Dave--I thought you do so by opening the propane door and accessing the hole as I recall.....believe this is the case for our 303 ? I don't recall if street or curb side. Hopefully someone can verify.

Dave--I think I am wrong the accessing through the propane door but our RV is in storage yet so I cannot check. I have our Owners Manual here at home but nothing in there.

The manual drive for the landing gear is behind a plastic plug in the port (left/street) propane locker. Easiest to get to if you remove the propane tank first.
