    Note to self...........

.........loosen wheek chock blocks before retracting automatic leveling jacks.

Geez, I couldn't even get the chock blocks out. I had to unhook the truck, and re-level to loosen those puppies. I had no idea that the leveling system would unload the tires like it did. And this was on a fairly level concrete (with floor drain) in our garage, where it has been parked since picking up the camper the middle of April.

Lesson learned, but will it stay in this old brain ??

On the plus side, the incident got me more familiar with the leveling system, which seems to work like a charm.

I never touch the levelers (we don't have automatic leveling) or chocks before hitching and retracting the landing gear. I consider it dangerous. We 1) hitch up, 2) retract the landing gear, and 3) use the truck to rock the trailer forward and then backward if necessary to remove the chocks. I also keep a large rubber mallet around to bang chocks into place when we setup and to remove them when breaking camp. Just call me old-fashioned...

We do the same as Rob posted above. Pulling the chocks is the last thing we do before driving away. If need be I put the truck in reverse, relieving pressure on the front chock and my DW pulls it out, then pull forward slightly and remove the rear chock.

Hey mtnguy, we're you using X chocks, or regular triangle blocks?

As the OP of this thread, I may need to clarify what I was trying to depict. I too level side to side, and install my wheel chocks (cheap, plastic, triangular 1s) before lowering the front jacks and unhitching, and remove the chocks once I am hitched up and front jacks retracted. But, after running the auto-leveling sequence, I kicked the chocks under the wheels tighter. that was the mistake, or rather the mistake by not loosing them again before retracting the levelers. The levelers take some load off of the wheels. So, I was kicking the chocks under an unloaded tire, not allowing for the tire to "expand" when the levelers were retracted. Those puppies were in there tight. Yes, I could have pulled the truck up to remove the rear chocks, but I have discovered in the past that those chock blocks can't take an enormous amount of pressure without collapsing (don't ask me how I know that ).

    I hope that clarifies things.
