    Slide Out Toppers

Has anyone added slide toppers to any or all of your slides? I have seen several trailers with them and they seam to make since to keep water and debris from getting into the trailer when closing the slide.

You'll find it runs about 50/50 whether toppers are worth it or not.

With toppers, while it makes keeping the slides cleaner (not totally clean), you can have issues with wind loosening up the topper and ripping it off.

Without toppers, you have to sweep/wipe off the slide to keep things clean.

Your call where your comfort level is.

You guys should try the search tool in the upper right corner . . . there have been many discussions on the pros and cons of slide toppers.

Thank you for the feedback. I am finding them to be somewhat pricey. I have tried the search function on several occasions and have found it to not be very helpful and or effective.

I have them but probably won't put them on the next one. They do keep the slide clean and cooler but they flap in the wind and one already has a tear

I had them on a previous 5er. Liked them for a lot of reasons as I'm usually camping in heavily wooded areas so debris was rarely a concern, quieter in rain, a bit cooler in direct sun, and no water inside when I brought the slides in. However, if I was in the open and it was windy, it seemed like they would get ripped off. On numerous occasions I brought in the slides because of it.

What I wish someone made was a smaller version of awnings. In the trees or rain I could deploy them but keep them closed when in the open or wind. Completely independent of the slides. I've actually even been considering add real electric awnings for this purpose to the street side. On my curb side, my existing awnings already cover my slide and I do roll it out just past the slide for that purpose.
