Just back from Tetons and Glacier park

Just returned from our two week trip to the Tetons and Glacier Nat'l Parks. Tetons were great as usual stayed at Colter Bay. Heads up for anyone heading there and planning to stay at Gros Ventre near Jackson. Main road to the campground was closed right at the main junction in the park. Road was partially washed out and the river was over flowing. Never heard of an ETA for its opening, detour goes north and you need to enter via Mormon Rd I believe. Lots of Solitudes and Reflections at Colter Bay RV, including a woman we spoke to...... who was on her maiden voyage.... alone....pulling her first 2017 fifth wheel for a 5 week trip out of Shreveport LA.

Saw all the usual....grizzly mother and cubs, moose, pronghorn, beaver and otters.

Headed north via Yellowstone and spent the night at Grizzly RV in West Yellowstone. Nice park. Then onto Glacier. Stayed at Columbia Falls RV in Columbia Falls MT which is about 13 miles outside the parks west entrance. Nice clean family run park on the edge of town. The "Going to the Sun Road" opened on Weds the day before we left. Took a late afternoon ride up and over Logan Pass to the east side. Not a bad ride in the RAM, only a few near misses with some drivers who didn't know how to share the road. Highly recommend a visit to Whitefish if your in this area.....cool mountain ski town.... a little touristy I bet in the middle of summer but wasn't too bad when we were there. Great restaurants and shops.

Drove home via 93 along Flathead Lake, down through Bitterroot Valley, Salmon River Scenic Byway in to Salmon and then down into Twin Falls and Jackpot. Long day but crashed in the overnight parking at the Casino and then home to Truckee the next day.

Here are a few shots of the trip.

    Thanks for this.

We're leaving in a couple of weeks for Tetons/Yellowstone. Staying in Coulter Bay (approaching from the north, however) and Grizzly RV park. Also staying at Grant campground in Yellowstone.

Brian, GREAT pictures. The kind I used to see on postcards.

Extremely new to the RV world as well as traveling in the USA. I hope I'll be able to find this post again after the first of the year when I retire and hit the road in my Imagine 2670MK.

Hopefully I can see things like this as well. Thanks for sharing.

No Sir. Retired Master Sergeant, United States Air Force. Just a nickname that has stuck with me since.
