    Solera Awning Retraction Problems

Yes my Solera awning is having problems retracting. It extends just fine, but stalled out retracting yesterday.

I sprayed a bunch of Remoil into the mechanism and it is retracting now, but not with authority. It is retracting possibly a little slower than it best days.

There doesn't seem to be anything on the web about lubing or what to lube with.

    Ideas?

Silly question perhaps but you're on shore power or have a fully charged battery?. The solera awning doesn't have any spring tension in the awning drum as other awnings do. Therefore the only difference between extending and retract is the resistance of the auto dump air cylinders and a little gravity. Has this difference between extending and retracting been a gradual thing?

Yeah, running on shore power. I have always thought Soleras were underpowered.

The truth is, if I wasn't married I wouldn't use it. They are very nice but a real easy way to get stuck somewhere when they fail to retract. For what they are there is nothing you do them that is cheap and every few years you have to replace the canopy.

The owners manual tells you how to retract the awning manually. Basically it requires a ladder, a cordless drill and (I think) a 7/16" deep socket.

Mine only works backwards. It does not have enough power to retract properly but will retract the awning if you let it roll up upside down with EXT. Since going down is easier, the RET rolls it back down. Works until I replace the motor this weekend.
