poor quality and horrible customer service
We have had our Grand Design travel trailer for just over one year and we have had problems with water leakage from day one. Every single seal on the roof is cracked and torn and has allowed leakage every where. This should not happen on such a new trailer. But Grand Design doesn't care at all. Basically they just wash their hands after 90 days. They don't stand behind their product. I am guessing that is because they know that they use poor products and do poor workmanship. The leaks are only part of all of the other issues we have had. We have had our trailer in for some type of repair after every single use. We will never buy another Grand Design product.

Well, first of all, welcome to the forum. I'm really sorry to hear that you've had a very bad experience. Most of us on here have been treated pretty well by Grand Design Customer service. I have had a couple of responses recently that were less than satisfactory. If you'd like to try and get your trailer fixed correctly, we can help you either do it yourself and/or escalate up the chain of command at Grand Design. What kind of help do you need?

Hello and welcome. As Jim said, many of us are here to help. Please feel free to provide some more info. Something certainly doesn't sound right . "Every seal cracked and torn" is very strange. Caulking is an ongoing maintenance item that GD is very clear about and often caulking does show surface cracks that are not an issue BUT torn typically only happens by contact with foreign objects. GD has a 3 yr structural guarantee not 90 days.... try to explain in more detail what is going on...

As Jim and Jim have said... also, be aware we have heard many reports from owners that their dealer claims to have contacted GD for support and later the owner finds out the dealer never contacted GD.

Jim,
Thanks for your quick response and offer to help. We not only contacted our dealer, we contacted Grand Design directly. We actually went to the Grand Design headquarter offices when we were in Indiana last year. At that time we were having a different issue with the trailer and we met with Nicholas Cotner who helped us. We emailed back and forth with Nicholas this year when we had water leak into the trailer during a rain storm. We had water leak through a ceiling light on a slide out, and through the antenna. Thankfully we were in the trailer at the time so we were able to catch the water in pots before it did damage to the furniture, etc.
What we want is for Grand Design to pay for all of the repairs that are needed. That includes replacing all of the seals on the roof and also to fix the part of the roof that water has seeped into that caused it to separate. In addition, we want them to figure out why water leaked into the light on the slide out. Lastly, since we have had this trailer in for so many repairs for all different issues including other leaks, we would like them to go over the whole trailer to find other areas that might be in disrepair. As you can hear, we are very frustrated. We have had five other travel trailers from different manufacturers and never had issues like we have had with this Grand Design Reflection. This trailer is only 14 months old and when we bought it we were told that Grand Design is known for their high quality product. That has not been our experience. Any help or guidance you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

I think you need to escalate to top management. Jerry McCarthy is the VP of customer relations. You can email him at [email protected]. Send Jerry a detailed message on what you've encountered and what your expectations are. If anyone can help you, Jerry can.

Thanks so much Jim!! Jerry got back to us right away and Grand Design is taking care of all of our sealant issues. He agreed that they should not all have gone bad in just 14 months. I am so glad that we joined this forum! Jim, your help was fantastic. Thanks again.
