Fire Ant Drench - Orange Oil + Dawn + Water

Fire ant hill below kingpin today. Nasty little bugs, hard to see. Made the drench, poured on them, gone within a few minutes.

I found through internet search that orange oil + dawn dish washing soap + water kills them pretty quick & doesn't make my old doggie Gracie sick.

1.5oz orange oil, 3oz dawn, 1 gallon water.

I hate those nasty little buggers, let us know how long this blend keeps them away. With any luck it not only chases them off but kills 'em too.

Well, I didn't have to worry about the afternoon, but they'll be back.
It does kill a bunch in the mound & makes them want to move.
I use it a lot at home as they're ever present.

I'm severely allergic to fire ants. I use Amdro bait. They take it to the Queen and the you will see mound activity reduce to almost nothing overnight. It takes 2 weeks for the mound to die completely.

It doesn't take much bait. Spread it around the mound, not on it, and shortly afterwards you will see the ants carrying the bait into the nest.

Always have amdro at home, but so humid here once it gets wet the ants don't want it.

My neighbor uses Orthene Fire Ant Killer, wow! nasty smelling & for sure my dog can't go near it.

Sevin dust works great. But I don't have pets and I make sure my neighbor campers don't before I put it down.
