    303 Bedroom TV Mounting

I think that it’s been asked before but I was wondering what you used to mount a TV to the Bedroom wall. Have a 2016 303 and would like to either install a 24" or 32" Flat Screen TV in there. What screws or bolts did you use to mount a Movable TV mount to the metal plate I think it is that is provided for the mounting of a TV.

I put a 24" Vizio in mine. I didn't use the screws that came with it I felt they were too long. I believe they are 2" in length. I went to the hardware store and picked up some 11/2" ones and put them in. I eye balled the length needed so as to not go through the outside.

Before I installed mine, I contacted Grand Design. They told me no more than 1.5 inches.

Sent from a very tiny keyboard.

I was thinking of using 1", #12 Pan Head sheet metal screws with an oversize washer to mount the TV mount.

I used #12 x 1-1/4" pan head screws, just long enough to go thru the TV mount, wall and the mounting plate.

I mounted my new TV mount in the bedroom of my 303 using #14 x 1" pan head screws but was wondering what the heck is behind the sticker that tell you to mount here. When I drilled into the wall it only seemed like plaster board. I thought that there was a piece of sheet metal to mount to?

Should be a metal plate behind the wall, although it may not be where the sticker is. You can locate it using a magnet. Mine was a little off too.

The metal "plate" is really thin material. Difficult to even feel with the drill bit. The interior wall is only 3/16 luan plywood. The exterior wall studs are 1 1/2" aluminum . . . So don't uses screws longer than 1 1/2" !! A very coarse screw thread (like a sheet metal screw) will get the best bite in the metal backer.

I never did find the metal in the wall I hope that the mount doesn’t unmount !!!!!!!!!! But I'm not going to travel with the TV hanging, plan to remove it and put it in the box it came in and lay it on the bed.

This thread was perfect timing, ordered a full motion mount on line at the HD yesterday at 2:15, picked up today at 1:30. Used Sirsea's technic of the magnet, found the metal plate near the right corner of the window to almost the left side to with in an inch and 1/2 of the ceiling. Drilled an 1/8" hole and could see metal shavings, then used (2) #14 x 1 inch sheet metal screws to mount it. . . . . works great. . . . . .
