CA highway 20 fort bragg to willits

Taking highway 20 back to 101 in a few days, has anyone been over it lately?
Understand it has a few curves but understand it's the best route to take.

    Thanks,

    John

If I remember correctly, it's about 35 miles and 20 miles of it is curves and switch backs but you'll not be the only RV (or truck). I use the few turn outs and even the few places it's two lanes I get in the slow lane and slow way down so that everybody has a chance to pass. The road itself is a good asphalt. Just take your time...you'll be fine.

Thanks JC, I'd heard it was in tough shape after a rough winter.

I'm sorry John......you were asking very recent. The Cal Trans web site doesn't reflect any restrictions......but then pot holes will not be reflected until they start doing repairs.....

I can tell you that I love that road on a motorcycle if I can get on it early enough in the morning before the RVs and trucks! LOL

I pulled my Solitude 310GK to and from Ft Bragg this past March. The road was in very good shape. Just as the others here have replied, lots of sharp turns but also, lots of pull outs to let the faster vehicles pass. I've driven this route about 5 times over the past 4 years and find that the drivers who frequent this route appreciate it when we RV'rs pull use the turn outs and let them pass. They usually toot their horn a couple of times in appreciation. Just take your time and you'll be fine.

Looking at hiway 128 as an alternative to 20, how does it compare?
Like 128 as it allows us more time on hiway one south of Fort Bragg where we are tonight.

    Thx,
    John

I wouldn't take 128. Yes, you will get a few more miles on 1 but besides Mendocino, not much exciting to look at...a few views of the ocean and then once you get on 128, you've got a long long drive before you get to the 101. What I am trying to say is, the cost of the longer drive on 128 is not worth the few more miles you will get on 1. I've driven 128 in a car....never pulled a trailer on it. I'd take 20 without question.
