Grand Design 2014 Owners Rally

I’ve started this thread and poll to measure the interest in a rally this September 8- 11th near Middlebury, IN. The date in September was chosen as it’s outside the busy summer season, weekdays are needed for plant tours/seminars and campground sites are more easily obtainable. I recognize that many (or most) of us have already made camping plans for this year…perhaps there’s still room for one more trip!

I’ve spoken with Bill Fenech and he’s very excited about the possibility of a rally and indicated that GD would support it as much as possible. Bill and his team will define what their support would include at a later date.

Activities that have been discussed include a tour of the Grand Design plant, a tour of the LCI frame plant, seminars/displays by LCI and other key suppliers. LCI also indicated that they would have their aftermarket products available to those interested at a discounted price…items like Level Up, upgraded pin boxes, Never-adjust Brakes for example. I'm sure we could arrange a potluck dinner and or lunch and some evening campfire socializing. There will be some free time to see the area’s points of interest…RV Museum, Shipshewana Auction and Flea Market, etc.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn more about our campers, the industry and to meet other members of the forum. If you have questions, comments or other ideas, post them here.

Thanks to all that have responded to the poll. Due to the support it's received, we'll move forward with the rally planning. The next step is to secure a campground near Middlebury that can accommodate our numbers with room for more. I'll report progress on this in a separate thread.

For those that haven't responded yet, please vote in the poll so that a running total of those interested can be tracked.

That would be great! Wife still works so I will check our schedule. We run a lot races and think Eldora speedway has a big race around then so I could make the rally ,see the son in Van Wert Oh, and hit Eldora all at the same time. Great

Just checked Eldoras world famous World100 late model show is the 4th through the 6th of Sept. I'd need a place to wash my rig since it's all dry camping at Eldora . It looks like Woodstock of campers during this show. lol but it will get a bit dusty but sometimes some strong storms during this time. Try to go every yr. this would be perfect a short jog to middlebury In for a relaxing time then home great. Our rig would have a few weeks in a roll on it. I'm in!

Thanks so much for taking the initiative to spear head this! I think it is a wonderful idea and we are IN since I am retiring May 1st. Allen and I would love to meet everyone we have been grabbing ideas from!!

We'll be on our road trip, someplace in Utah by then. Hope to be there next year though.

For those able to attend and if you've never been to a rally and are hesitant, they are really fun and a great way to make new friends.
We still camp with people we met 10 years ago at a rally.

Are the Rally's usually spring and fall, or fall only? We'd love to attend but this one wouldn't work out.

We'll need a weekend in there somewhere. We can't make it that far and not have the weekend included. Just a thought.
