Adding 2nd AC unit

Resurrecting an old thread, and thank you happy Kansans for the video. We will soon order and install the Dometic Penguin II, 13.5k BTU, ducted, single zone AC in the bedroom.

While the video is a very informative, it did not indicate any waterproofing on the roof. Should a bead of a good silicon be applied to the “sticky” area where the old sealant for the vent was removed, prior to placing the new AC unit?

Finally getting that 2nd air conditioner. We ordered the Penguin II Low Profile. My question is when ordering the thermostat is a control box required too as the air conditioner unit doesn’t come with one.
