2017 F350 and 303 RLS travel weights and payload...

    Hi All:
Weighed up my setup today loaded heading out for a week. Figured I would post numbers if they help someone else. The town gravel pit has a scale that runs 24/7 for town residents ( well as long as they don't catch you). Lots of firewood loaded for the week( don't worry is it kiln dried ). Battery eliminator to catch the evening news (no genny yet). Truck had all the usual tools, jumper cables, , etc under the back seat.

2017 F350 6.7 Diesel, supercab with 18" AT tires. XLT trim but loaded up at that level. Yellow sticker payload 3737. Demco auto slider hitch (300 lbs) , factory puck system, full tank of fuel and one extra fat driver. .

Unladen with hitch and normal stuff:
    Front axle: 4700
    Rear axle: 3620
    Total: 8320

Hitched up ready to travel for a week with no care of what we packed ( wife out of truck even though I must state for my own safety, her weight would not effect the numbers hardly at all. )
    Truck:
    Front axle: 4520 (5200 max)
    Rear axle: 6200 ( 7230 max)
    Total : 10720 ( max 11500)

    303rls:
    Pin weight : 2560 (23%)
    Total rear wheels : 8440 (total 10400)
    5th wheel total 11000 (11995 max)
Total of full hookup ( truck and camper) 19160

Bottom line is I am well in the comfort zone everywhere. Without paying for is ( I am a cheap SOB) I don't have a way of measuring individual tire weight to get the side to side readings. The 303RLS loads almost everything to the front of the axles so Other setup could probably get more axle weight and less pin weight....

    Jim

Note, edited with fine tuned numbers

Jim - your numbers are close to ours when we were well loaded up when I scaled in summer of 2015. Our GCW was just over 19800. Your trailer axles at 3960 and 3260 seem low and do not match your total of 8640 (which does seem appropriate.) I did not get each axle # but our total trailer axle was just over 9100.

Dan,. You are right, I need to look at those axle numbers again. Something is wrong there.... Thanks for pointing it out.

(While I don't want to point any fingers that is what I get for letting the wife read the scale. To get the numbers she had to read them too me since the readout was past the truck... Oops I mean they must be correct....)

So I emailed Demco and asked about the hitch offset. They said the Ford-prep Hijacker auto-slide head sits 2 inches in front of the rear axle when in towing position. Based on that, I would have guessed a 35 lb increase in the front axle load. I'm not saying anything else.

I hear ya. All I can say is I read those numbers myself off the scale. I know when I weighed before I was lighter on the front end also. There is a bunch of metal past the axle. I will look tomorrow when I hitch up again to move locations.

Edit: here is a picture of the hitch mounted . The pin is +/- over the axle but the whole slide assembly site past the axle.

Good stuff Jim! Just bought a 2018 F350 CC Long Bed, SRW, Ford 5th Wheel Prep (pucks) and wondering where I'm at with pin weight and all for my 303RLS ('15).. this helps. Old tow rig is an '05 2500HD Dmax Regular cab, long bed that pulled the 303 + 17' Alumaweld just fine, in my eyes anyway. Anderson Ultimate with B&W.
Figure the F350 should be even better but we'll see. I would think the 350 is more than adequate and within DOT requirements. But since you've addressed the issue thought I'd try to pin it down.
When you say your measurements are in the 'comfort zone' can you be more specific please? Guessing you're going with truck ratings vs. actual loads.

    Thanks.
