Slide seal care
What product, if any, do you use on the rubber slide seals?

Yep, it leaves a dry film and really reduces friction. Easy to use also.

One thing I like about it is that it has UV protection. I really need that in this Arizona sunshine.

We bought some slide out dry lube (for the mechanism), but my husband is wary about using it, because he's read that you shouldn't do that. And that you shouldn't lube the rubber as it gums them up, or something?
HELP.

None of the gear racks on the slides should be lubed. They run dry. Check your owner's manual or Lippert U-tube videos for proper care of slide mechanisms.
As far as the seals gumming up I did experience that with a different seal "Conditioner" I was using at the time. The conditioner made the seals sticky causing problems with slide operation. Since switching to the seal lube I posted above I've had no more sticky seals. The Slide Out lubricant comes out of the can as a foam and dries completely leaving a dry lube on the seal. Just spray the foam on the seals and run the slides in and out a few times. I found out about this stuff from an RV tech at last year's NorCal GD rally.Jim & Georgianne

What is the general opinion on the forum of using a "Slide Seal" lube vs. the Protectant #303? I know many use the #303, as I am, but should I save the #303 for the decals! and us the foam actually for the rubber seals? I know that either is better than doing nothing.

I've been following LCI advice (I know . . . what a curious thing for me to do ) from the Rally tech session and putting nothing on the seals. They are retaining their original "soapy" feel and have not stuck to anything yet. Nearly 3 years in service and sometimes closed up for a month at a time in the summer. There may be something to their claim that coatings and cleaners remove the natural lubricant in the seal material.

Interesting, thanks Rob. I must have missed that part where it said to not apply anything. Something else to think about.
