Heat strips in the A/C
Has anyone added heat strips in the A/C units yet? I am thinking of adding them to my A/C units if we get our trailer to keep the propane use to a minimum. I know other toy haulers that have the 2nd A/C in the garage that come with the heat strip in that unit to help heat the garage, but I thought one in the bedroom would help with cold nights. Thoughts?

Re: Heat strips in the A/C
Huntr70 that would be the best option, but since I am buying a trailer off the lot that does not have that option, I was just going to add the heat strips.
But as for the heat pumps, what are the BTU's of those units?Korey SE WI

Yes. Order the heat pump option. It's only $150 I believe. It's well worth it.

Ta4dice, like I stated earlier: "that would be the best option, but since I am buying a trailer off the lot that does not have that option, I was just going to add the heat strips."
And to be 100% honest, I didn't even know there was a heat pump option. What is the difference between the two units?

Re: Heat strips in the A/C
Heat strips are just that, a unit that uses strips to heat up and the fan blows through them.
The heat pump is using the compressors, basically in "reverse" to create heat.
Nothing wrong with adding strips, just uses a whole lot more electricity to heat. Might as well just use the fireplace and LP heat...Steve- Inventory Manager at Tom Schaeffer's RV, Shoemakersville, PA www.tomschaeffers.com

Re: Heat strips in the A/C
Yeah, after doing more research on the two units, I am just going to use space heaters with the furnace on as a back-up. nThat is what I have done in the past so I will keep up that tradition!! Thank you all for the input and happy camping....
