Electric Garage Door !
I'm thinking of adding a gear motor to raise and lower this heavy #%! garage door. Similar to a wench setup with a spool and cable and a stop switch. Add a couple control switches inside and out.... Anyone successfully done this ? Would love to see pics !

You might have a tough time getting a wench to do this chore. I'd opt for a winch instead.

It would also have to be 12 volt motor. That shouldn't be a problem. With the proper gearing it would work. 12 Volt electric motors have been lifting 5th wheel landing gears for years.
I would like to see what you come up with.2018 Momentum 376TH

The only issue I can see would depend on where the winch is positioned (from a practical standpoint, workable positions may be limited) and where the attachment point(s) is(are) on the door. If the door is open too far from where the winch is located, the force could be more "in" than "up", which could be a major issue.
I have heard of people wanting to do this, but I don't believe I have ever seen it put into practice.Editor - www.RamGunner.com and www.MomentumGunner.com

Very cool!
Was that something you designed? Do you have any info on the installation?
