Keep in mind that these publicly traded companies exist for one purpose--to maximize shareholder wealth by increasing the stock price. They don't exist to do the right thing or to care about customers. That's how it works AND how it should work. The shareholders elect a board of directors and the board hires the CEO. If the CEO isn't making good choices, the board should deal with it or get voted out.

There is defined definitely some notion that coprporations should be about doing the right thing. They are not charity organizations--their obligation is to do the profitable thing, within the bounds of the law. In many cases, doing the "right" thing is the most profitable path. In other cases, that may not hold true.

Exactly! Which is why any CEO that publicly insults a large portion of his customer base and tells them he no longer wants their business is doing the exact opposite of what he was hired for and therefore has no business being a CEO!

I also find his statement offensive. We were planning to go to the Camping World Store in Greenwood Ind. to purchase close to $700.00 worth of items for our Daughter, and Son-in-Law's 5th Wheel Toyhauler , until I read the statement made by this CEO(?) . We instead purchased them elsewhere. I am sure the company will not miss my money, but at least in did not show support for this person and his company

But when he draws in his business interests with the "quite frankly, don't shop at my business" then it ceases to be a personal opinion and then he throws down the gauntlet to don't shop at my company. Why does he feel the need to challenge his customer base to not shop there if you don't agree with my personal opinion? Easy decision for me, and very similar to a few years ago with the CEO of Starbucks basically saying the same thing. It's the liberal method of again shoving their opinions down the masses throats and I for one am sick and tired of the attitude and will use my minimal financial impact to answer his "challenge".
Well said, and I agree. He brought his opinion into the business so suffer the consequences.

So true, and I also can't help but notice his "registered" trademark on the web "I am 100% in charge", well if you have to spout that to every visitor I guess you might have some self doubt going on. What an ego.................

The CW/GS CEO's comment has no sway as far as I'm concerned. My decision not to patronize CW came about roughly a month ago. I had just received an online purchase I had made and received an e-mail a day or so later offering 15% off on my next order. I was looking to upgrade the toilet in our 307 and thought this would be the opportune time to use the 15% off voucher. Well, as luck would have it, CW increased their prices an average of 25%. The toilet I wanted increased from $218.00 to $288.00. They play us for idiots, I will not be back.

Camping world doesn't always have the best prices but they usually have a good price if you are a Good Sam member. I have bought a lot of stuff from Camping World and have always been able to get the internet price. I have also had them do some work on my RV and even though I didn't buy it from them they got me in in a short time and did a great job. Maybe I'm just lucky but I have always had a good experience with Camping World and I will use them again.
