Schwintek slide mounting screws falling out

I noticed recently that my Schwintek slides were separating from the side of the trailer. I found every screw in the exterior flange to be loose. Some as much as three turns. None of them were broken or stripped, they were simply backing out of the holes. I rebedded them with some black RTV silicone sealant. I think this would be a good item to add to a routine maintenance list.

    https://www.mygrandrv.com/fo...lideout-recall

If that link doesn't work do a search for Imagine Slide recall

I was told the screws securing the slide mechanism to the trailer were over torqued, stripped, broken during manufacturing.

It might be worth a call to GD or your dealer.

Jim - first I have seen this situation on the forum for a Reflection.......you may want to alert GDRV Missy in the tech section to this and have her do some research and get back with you.

I have this problem on a 2-month old Imagine. According to my dealer, they checked and my TT is not part of the recall. My Imagine does have some extra brackets hooking the slide to the wall on the inside. These were apparently added as part of the fix to the earlier recall, so my TT came with them from the factory. However, there is obviously still some kind of problem here. I initially reported this to my dealer with pictures (which they in turn forwarded to GD) about six weeks ago. GD said there wasn't a problem. However, after a recent 500 mile trip, it had obviously gotten worse, so I sent some more pictures. It wasn't until I could show them a broken off screw head that they agreed there was a problem and would fix it under warranty. I'm taking it in next week to get fixed.

To be clear the issue with my slide screws has nothing to do with broken or over torqued screws or stripped screws. These screws simply backed out. None of them were stripped or broken but every one of them in both Schwintek slides were loose. I could tighten them back up and none of them are stripped. I suggest giving them a check.

I had the same thing occur after returning from a long trip the end of June. I have retighten using caution to not over-tighten. So far they have not backed out. I expect that there is aluminum frame around the opening which in other areas find that it is thinner walled than expected, not much bite.
