Grand Design Fifthwheels and Road Restrictions
I just picked up the 2014 Good Sam Campground Directory. Inside, they have a listing of "Rules of the Road" and "Towing Laws" for all the U.S. and Canada. I was intrigued by the size limitations that several states impose on those who are towing. Several states seem to have laws that would prohibit certain Grand Design FWs from being towed through them. Here are some examples:
Trailer Length
LA - 30 Ft
MA - 33 Ft
NC - 35 Ft
SC - 35 Ft
Trailer Width (Affects Solitude and Momentum)
KY - 96"
MD - 96"
MI - 96"
NH - 96"
NJ - 96"
OR - 96"
TN - 96"
Do any of you live or tow your rigs through these states?

Re: Grand Design Fifthwheels and Road Restrictions
I have traveled through several of these states even stayed in two of them and have had no issues. I am not sure why they would limit length, motorhomes go up and down the east coast all the time and they are longer than those measurements. Am going to Myrtle Beach in April and when making reservations they asked me the size of the RV and it did not seem to be a problem.

I live and camp in Louisiana...Have camped in all the neighboring states to Louisiana....
I have been in just 'bout every state campground and national park in the Bayou State.
I have seen toy haulers that look as if they'd double the length of my Solitude 305RE. I've seen all sizes of campers on every interstate (I49, I20 and I10), and on almost every highway in La.
I do not think the length limit is enforced in Louisiana.

Seen this before,I have never seen any problems. I do know that as long as your on a federal interstate your fine. All RVs can't exceed federal law but states can set thier own standards.

Re: Grand Design Fifthwheels and Road Restrictions
I think even though that was posted in the 2014 book, the laws themselves may be outdated. I live in Oregon, and bought my solitude here. That book shows my width limit as 96" and the solitude is 103" wide I think.

Jim - According to the GD website, all Solitudes and Momentums are 101" (8'-5") wide, and Reflections are 96" (8'-0").

Re: Grand Design Fifthwheels and Road Restrictions
Could these be limits for bumper pull vs. fifth wheel?
