Fresh Water Filling - Reflection 293RES

I have made several attempts to fill my fresh water tank with no success. I am following the instructions in my Reflection owner's manual and the picture posted on the door inside the basement. Still no luck, I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. After setting the valves to match the picture, I turn the city water supply on at the hydrant and immediately water flows out the overflow behind the trailer axles on the drivers side.

Please let me know what I am doing wrong or direct me to better instructions online. Thanks

Re: Fresh Water Filling - Reflection 293RES

Hi, I'm no expert but I think that is the drain for the water tank. Maybe it was left open by either the dealer or the factory. Scoot under the trailer and you should be able to close it up easily.
Then fill the tank and you should have no problems.
    hope this helps!

Re: Fresh Water Filling - Reflection 293RES

    Hi @RetiredVagabond,

Please refer to page 87 of your Reflection owner's manual for a photo of the fresh tank drain valve. It is located by the fresh water tank overflow tube on the off-door side (ODS) on the underside of your Reflection (#0477). Make sure the fresh tank drain valve is shut when filling your fresh water tank. Note: it is very important you do not cap your fresh water tank overflow tube.

If this does not correct the issue, please check the reading at the monitor panel for your fresh water tank and then call our Customer Service department directly for assistance at (574) 825-8000.

    Best regards,
    ~ Janice

Re: Fresh Water Filling - Reflection 293RES

Thanks for the quick reply Marcy and Janice.

I will check tomorrow afternoon when I arrive at a RV Park with hookups. I am dry camping at Lake Pleasant, AZ tonight. I will post my findings for others after I am successful.
    Regards

Mine was open the first time I tried to use it - just pushed it closed and it worked fine. I really like the way you fill the tank with this system. I used the freshwater tank lots during my shakeout trip as it got below freezing almost every night.

Did you fill it from a gravity type? I had heard you can suck water into you tank from a gravity or water cans using the on board pump? Does anyone know if this is true?

Re: Fresh Water Filling - Reflection 293RES

    Hi @cuttinchief,

Jerry McCarthy, our VP-Customer Service, has advised that if your Reflection 293 RES has an Anderson Kantleak system you can fill the tank by following the valve position decal affixed to the inside of the compartment door. If you have further questions or need assistance, please contact your dealer or our Customer Service department (the phone number is listed in my signature, below).

    Best regards,

Sorry it took so long to post back - I inspected the Drain Valve and it was in fact OPEN. I closed it and everything seems to be working now.
    Thanks everyone for the help.

Glad it was just a simple turn of the valve for you.
