Air Conditioning Delay
Hi friends. I just installed my hardwired Progressive EMS. The default setting for the delayed start/restart is 36 seconds mostly to protect the A/C compressor from starting too soon after shutting down. Does anyone know if I need to change the jumper to the longer delay? My A/C units are on a 2016 Solitude 384GK. Thanks for the help.

Im not sure if its different between models, i have the 50A non-hardwired EMS. Mine has a 2min 16sec delay, i wasnt aware you could change it. The paperwork that came with it said the long delay was specifically to protect the A/C units.

Not sure, but most ACs these days have a high limit pressure switch which prevents them coming off 'immediately' or 'shortly after' a power interruption. This way if the power is interrupted while the ACs are running (or the compressors just cycled off) they it takes some number of minutes (5 to 10) before they will try to come on again. At least thats the experience on my RV. I do have a 50A Progressive unit hardwired but am not sure of the delay setting.

Our portable Progressive unit also has a fixed 130 second or so delay before it restarts.

I installed a hardwire 50 amp EMS. I can't find email/documentation, but I did get confirmation that AC units were time delayed, so I left EMS as shipped(15 sec)

I have always read and heard that you want to wait 2 mins before restarting them but I think most ACs today have this delay built in.

Compressors in A/C units normally have a 3-5 minute delay from when they shut off to starting back up. this is to protect the compressor from "slugging". what happens is the compressor is compressing the low pressure vapor from the evaporator to a high pressure vapor which flows thru the condenser like a still turning the vapor back into a liquid. When the compressor cycles off, it needs a few minutes to let any liquid that may condense after cycling off to turn back into a vapor.
The compressor cannot compress a liquid. This is all for compressor protection.
If anyone has correction to this,,,,,, school me pls
