$300 - 400 to protect thousands is worth it in my book. Ours has saved us numerous times by preventing power to the RV when the pedestal had faulty breakers (2 different sites at same campground) and another campground had loose wires on the plug (kept tripping on low voltage).

Well said. Be aware, some of the portable units are ONLY surge protectors (I think all of Progressive's hard wired units are a true EMS). If you take the portable route, make sure you get the EMS. Low voltage is way more common than a surge and will destroy an AC compressor in a hurry.

Airways use an external in line surge protector. In nine years had one burned out last summer. Would have had to replace a lot more than a 100 buck protector. It was the first thing I bought for the new 50amp 3000by. Its
Cheap in the long run

So is there a better one to buy I found a 50 amp surge protector for like $100 versus the EMS for $320 what’s the difference?

The $100.00 Surge protector protects against that, and only that.
The Progressive protects against,
Over/Under Voltage Protection
Open Ground, Open Neutral & Reverse Polarity Detection
Accidental 240V Protection
Miswired Pedestal Indication
Surge Failure Indicator
Amperage Meter Display
Previous Error Code
A/C Frequency Protection
Time Delay (136 seconds)
Adjustable Time Delay
Thermally Protected
Remote Display w/Scrolling Digital Display
Field Serviceable
UL Certified and Canadian Approved
Lifetime Warranty
According to them anyway. I installed one before our first trip in the Quantum, and bought this one before we finalized the Solitude. The plan was to get it in today, but the dog had other plans (that cost more than the EMS). I have seen many "save" posts, but no I had it and the $%!* the fan and it stuck because the fan motor was burned out.Last edited by ThePowells; 12-30-2019 at 12:42 AM.
