Winter storage
I live in Michigan and my 5th wheel will need to spend the winter outdoors as I am not lucky enough to have inside storage
When storing for the winter do I store in a level position using the auto level or do I extend the front legs and raise the front to help with rain runoff and snowmelt in the winter.
thanks

We're from Michigan too and have always put our trailers at an angle when storing for the winter. If you get a lot of snow on the roof when the temp gets near freezing on a summer day it will start to melt. If it's level a lot of that water will sit there and refreeze when the temps drop at night. Besides the damage you could get that is a lot of weight to have up there.

I appreciate this thread, living in Michigan, too, and starting to consider options and means to store my 5er over the winter.

Thank you so much for these tips. We live in Colorado and have been having the same discussions. Just purchased our 5th wheel in July so will be storing over the winter, outside for the first time. Do you all use the landing geer and leveling jacks for storage or stand alone jacks under the frame. How about the tires.
We have heard you want to get your tires off the ground to prevent flat spots. All advice welcome.

Not sure about the level approach or not but to use swimming pool storage pillows on the centerline of the roof under a cover will provide all the drainage you need. These work great under a boat cover as well. One on the bow and one on the dog house.....for summer use.

We live on the Canadian border in Northern Minnesota. Will be leaving in January for the beach. Our 2019 310 GK is rated as 4 season. Will storing it outside for a couple of months damage the roof? We have the option of covered storage but it is pricey. TIA

If storing it outside would be a problem then you would always have to camp in a garage
Seriously tho, it'll be fine outside . The only thing I see wrong with it is you're leaving the cold for warmth way to late! Be sure to give the trailer and frame a good wash to get all the salt off when you get to your warm weather resting spot.

The GDRV Owners Manuals have a section for RV Storage covering winter issues. One item listed (along with several other important areas) is to not use the level up system or stabilizer jacks. Attached link to GDRV website Owners Manual page (or consult your Owners Manual) to ensure these important items are reviewed and addressed as necessary in your situation. If the slides are extended you should always have the RV as level as possible to prevent water intrusion. Retracting the slides to limit slide exposure the elements and possible damage makes sense and would be preferred.

When we stored our trailer in the winter there was a couple of things we would do. One was to leave the slides in. The other was we would jack one end up putting the trailer at an angle. That way if snow built up on the roof and we had a bit of a warm up the water could run off.
