    Axles?

Why do they only put 7000# axles under the 379fl?

Wouldn't it make more sense to go up in size to allow a little more room for overages?

The GVWR of the 379 is 16,000 Pounds. According to the Solitude specification page, the average hitch weight of the 379 is 3000 pounds. If you add the three together, 7k +7k + 3k, you obtain 17,000 pounds. This is 1,000 pounds over the GVWR which seems reasonable.

TusconJim is correct that they give 3000k to the truck because of the pin so you can add to your load of goods. I think it's listed at 2000ibs or close others non front living RVs have higher load limits I understand but 2-3k is a lot of stuff.

I guess I am just surprised they cut it so close. I am sure other companies do the same.

    Re: Axles?

I believe that most manufacturers set the camper's GVWR by adding the axle ratings to the dry pin weight. I think if the GVWR is less than that calculated number, it's limited by some factor(s) other than axle ratings.

while on our last trip, I stopped at the scales to get some weights (just to make me feel better). Our 369RL with our compliment of stuff (which is quite a bit) weighed in at 11,500 at the trailer axels. If I add the pin weight which I estimate at 3200 lbs with all the stuff in the forward compartment, that puts us at 14,700 lbs total weight of the trailer... give or take a few lbs. Puts it well within the limits of the GVWR. At 11,500 at the axles, it's also well within the axel ratings. That's my story and I'm stickin to it
