Freeze warning tonight
It’s supposed to freeze tonight and my trailer isn’t winterized yet. We’ve still got a Thanksgiving weekend trip planned so I was postponing the winterization.
What do I need to do to keep it safe for a couple of days until we leave? Supposed to get down to 30F or so for 4-6 hours.
On the same note. Where we’re going camping is going to get under freezing. Just keep the furnace going? Even while driving?
We’re still new to this so thanks for the help.Eric & Sandra

Disconnect your outside water source. If you have electricity, a space heater or two with a fan for air circulation, or you could run your furnace, just make sure your propane tanks are full. I would open any cabinet doors that have water lines and drain pipes visible, and if not too much trouble, drain the water heater. We've been camping where the temps have dropped down to the low to mid 20's and except for draining the water heater, we take the above precautions.

Just keep in mind that without running the furnace, you will not provide any heat to the underbelly where all your tanks and water lines are located.

A full water tank will take longer to freeze than a nearly empty one.
Every couple of hours, open each faucet for 15 seconds or so. This will flush any nascent ice formation into the holding tank.
Temps dipping to 30 for a few hours shouldn't be much of a problem, except for the external connection hose.

Recommendations above are good. Especially for that temperature for that duration you shouldn’t really have any trouble anyway. When we have had cold spells prior to going on a trip to the south in the winter I have just run the furnace. The money you spend on propane is cheap insurance to prevent missing a trip or busted pipes. Good luck!

Just set the thermostat to 50 degs and let the furnace run over night. you will not have any freeze problems at those temps that only last for a few hours.

It’s in a storage lot so no option to run water or electric. I’ll run the furnace tonight though. Thanks for the ideas.
